Eyrie Ecology and Ornithology Ltd. is an independent consultancy specialising in ecological and ornithological surveys throughout the United Kingdom.

With over 12 years professional survey experience, Eyrie provides professional services to a consistently high standard. Our experience, combined with our small size, allows high quality surveys at competitive prices.

What We Do

Eyrie Ecology & Ornithology accommodate projects nationwide, covering all habitats and species, offering a dedicated, cost effective service to successfully deliver projects within budget, schedule and specification.

Expertise in all aspects of ecology and ornithology ensures fieldwork produces robust, high quality data promoting objective analysis and assessment.

Our experienced ecologists and ornithologists maximise systematic data collection via implementation of recognised and approved ecological and ornithological survey methodologies (i.e. – Natural England, CIEEM, BCT, RSPB, BTO, JNCC etc) and the design of bespoke techniques to compliment project specifications.

Introducing Josh Broster

­­Eyrie Ecology and Ornithology Ltd. is operated by Joshua Broster (Director and Consultant Ecologist).

Joshua has been a professional ecologist since 2007 and is experienced in various protected species groups and survey techniques including bats, badger, otter, water vole, reptiles, amphibians and primarily birds.

Josh is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and holds a great crested newt survey licence issued by Natural England and Natural Resources Wales and a Natural England Level 1 (Class Licence) to survey bats by “observation” (by use of artificial light).

Josh particularly specialises in ornithological surveys and impact assessments, including those for both small schemes and large residential, infrastructure, mining and renewable energy developments.

Josh has been issued multiple Schedule 1 bird survey licences, including; Barn Owl issued by Natural England and Natural Resources Wales, Kingfisher issued by Natural England and a Schedule 1 survey licence for all species (Sutherland) issued by Scottish Natural Heritage which included Golden Eagle, Merlin and Greenshank.

Josh was formally an Associate Director of Ecology at a large multi-disciplinary consultancy where he managed and implemented surveys for a range of nationally recognised clients.
